Prototyping future energy: collaboration between Shukhov Lab and Phi team
Creative Industries Fund NL has provided a grant for collaborative research by a joint Dutch-Russian team
Prototyping Future Energy is a collaboration between Phi international team and the Shukhov Lab of the HSE Graduate School of Urbanism. Phi mission is to create an easy-to-use environment for simulating, finding investment for, and managing clean and decentralized energy systems. It also runs a collaborative energy projects on the blockchain. The team is based in Europe and Russia and their headquarter is currently registered in the Netherlands.
The grant for the collaborative research is provided by Creative Industries Fund NL, a Dutch governmental organisation that strives to make a substantial contribution to the quality of professional practice within and especially between the disciplines of architecture, design and digital culture.
The partnership between the Shukhov Lab and Phi team will proceed in two stages.
In Phase 1 the Phi experts together with the Shukhov Lab team will launch a research experiment on digital and energy layers within the urban context. They will also conduct relevant lectures for students of the master program ‘Prototyping Future Cities’ and provide them with the expertise on how to create a decentralized energy system. By the end of the first stage, the joint effort will result in a Phi showcase for participatory green-lifestyle at the scale of a living block.
After that, Shukhov Lab and the Phi team aim to extend their collaboration towards a year-long project within the master program ‘Prototyping Future Cities’ which will include research in Murmansk, analyzing the city data, and applying a living-block prototype at a city scale.
