Alan Wolff, WTO Deputy Director General, gave a lecture

On December 3, Alan Wolff, Deputy Director General of the World Trade Organization (WTO), gave a lecture on “WTO 2.0”.

The lecture was devoted to the WTO prospects and was held under the master's program “International Trade Policy”.

After the lecture Alan Wolff answered all the questions of interest, including the WTO Dispute Settlement Body fate and new areas of regulation, such as e-commerce.

Vladimir Nikolayevich Zuev, the head of master's program “International Trade Policy” and Maxim Yurievich Medvedkov, the head of the Academic Council of the program organized the meeting. Among the attendants of the lecture were students and professors of the Institute.

Biography: Alan Wolff has been WTO Deputy Director since 1 October 2017. He is a former Senior International Law Advisor at Dentons, one of The world's largest international trade law firms and settled large international commercial disputes. For the past six years, he has served as the Chairman of the National Council on foreign trade of the United States. He is currently part-time Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Institute for U.S. Trade and Commercial Diplomacy. He also initiated the establishment of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) Committee on Trade.
