Impact of the Financial Technologies on the Banking Sector in Russia

The issue 'Impact of the Financial Technologies on the Banking Sector in Russia' was published as part of the series 'Science, Technology and Innovation' of the HSE Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge. The issue is based on the results of an expert online survey on the use of financial technologies in the Russian banking sector jointly prepared in 2019 with the HSE Banking Institute.

The results demonstrate the significance of the transformation processes occurring in the Russian banking sector under the influence of modern financial technologies. The majority of the respondents believe that the traditional financial institutions will face the significant changes. However, there are numerous problems that are able to slow down the modernization dramatically, for example, the level of the financial literacy of the Russian population.
