HSE University and RREDA Join Forces to Support 2026 Renewable Energy of the Planet Competition
HSE University and the Russia Renewable Energy Development Association (RREDA) have signed a partnership and information cooperation agreement to support Renewable Energy of the Planet—2026, a national competition with international participation for students and early-career researchers. Applications are open on the competition's website until September 20, 2026.
The Renewable Energy of the Planet Competition is RREDA's flagship annual initiative. It aims to support early-career scientists, identify emerging talent, and promote innovative solutions in renewable and hydrogen energy, climate policy, and the low-carbon transition. The competition is open to students and early-career scientists under the age of 30 from Russia, the CIS, and other countries.

'Partnerships with Russia's leading universities are fundamental to the quality and credibility of the competition. HSE University has a strong research tradition and extensive expertise in issues related to the energy transition,' says Alexey Zhikharev, Director of RREDA.
He believes that the partnership with the HSE Faculty of Geography and Geoinformation Technology will bring new expertise to the competition and broaden its appeal to a wider range of participants. Under the agreement, representatives of the faculty will join the competition board and take part in the independent assessment of research papers throughout all stages of the selection process.
