HSE Students are Google Cup Moscow Champions

Master’s students at the HSE Faculty of Business and Management, Viktoria Andrukhnenko and Yegor Burdy took first place in the Google Cup Moscow Case Championship. 214 student teams from Russia and the CIS were competing.

The championship was in two stages. In the first, students had one week to develop a marketing strategy for an imaginary online shop using Google: Google AdWords and YouTube. They had to present their plan to the jury in ten web-slides. The HSE team devised a strategy for the imaginary company A-Mart, the biggest online store for electronic goods in Russia, competing in the case with real businesses like Yulmart and M.Video.

Their proposal was successful and went through to the second round as one of five finalist projects. During their pitch the jury remarked upon the ‘in-depth analysis and well thought out concept, positive energy in performance and impressive presentation design and infographics’ by the HSE students.

‘They even said they had the feeling it was actual Google people making the presentation,’ said Viktoria Andrukhnenko. ‘Yegor and I worked really hard for this, day and night - we didn’t sleep a wink, but we supported each other and believed we would win.’

Case Championship 'Google Cup Moscow' was organised by Google and MGIMO business club.
