Professor Ann Carlson in conversation with leading environmental economist George Safonov, who served on Russia's delegation to the Paris climate summit in December. Dr. Safonov will discuss the strengths and weaknesses of the Paris Agreement, including the difficulties confronted by many of the world's leading economies in achieving deep decarbonization.

Dr. Safonov is has been a member of official party delegations and observer organizations at U.N. climate change negotiations since 1999. He is a pre-nominated expert to the IPCC's 6th assessment report, a member of the UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network, a coordinator of the Deep Decarbonization Pathways Project in Russia, and the director of climate economics research projects in Russia and Eastern European countries.
