HSE to Help Develop Legislature to Boost Technology Entrepreneurship
Artem Kritsyn, Manager of regional programmes and projects at the HSE Business Incubator, now heads the Working Group to Involve Secondary and Higher School Students in Entrepreneurship. The Working Group was created in October 2017 by the Expert Council on the Development of Civil Education and Student Socialization under the State Duma Committee for Education and Science. The Working Group also includes Tatyana Stroganova, Head of the HSE Innovation and Enterprise Office.

These members will work as part of the group for one year, and during this period of time, they aim to change the nature of students’ involvement in entrepreneurship, including changing the assessment criteria for student relations executives at universities. The experts suggest introducing one more criterion – ‘involvement of students in entrepreneurship’, which will oblige the universities to support not only students’ professional and personal growth, but their business ambitions as well.
‘Entrepreneurship must be taught from secondary school. This will help our society to overcome distrust in entrepreneurs. A business person should be seen as someone who creates added value, provides jobs, and opens opportunities for future generations’, commented Artem Kritsyn, ‘But entrepreneurship learning shouldn’t be too academic. It should be practice-oriented and lead students to starting real businesses. At some universities, students can already present their startups as degree projects’.
In addition to lectures and theoretical classes, the working group experts are going to supplement educational programmes with workshops with successful entrepreneurs, business-oriented learning, and other interactive forms of learning.

The HSE University Business Incubator has started accepting applications for the HSE Startup Cup. The competition, which is being held for the fourth time, has become a large-scale event for the best student startups from all of the university’s campuses. Participants of the competition have the opportunity to launch a startup and receive financing for their projects.
Faculty of Computer Science Holds its First Entrepreneurship School
At the end of August, the Centre for Internships, Projects and Entrepreneurship of the Faculty of Computer Science, with support from the HSE University Business Incubator, held the first summer school on entrepreneurship. More than 40 HSE University bachelor’s and master’s students participated in it. The school was aimed at developing the students’ entrepreneurial skills and introducing them to the art of presenting ideas and products.
Applications Now Open for New Educational Robotics Accelerator
Over the course of 12 weeks, participants of the HSE Business Incubator’s programme will finalise their startups under the leadership of renowned market experts and attract grant funding for their projects. The programme will be held both online and in person. Applications for the accelerator are open until May 28, 2022.
