Gianfranco Denes to speak on ' Human neural plasticity across the lifespan '

On December 7th, from 4 to 5.30 pm, Prof. Gianfranco Denes (University Ca’ Foscari Venice, Italy) will present the talk “Human neural plasticity across the lifespan”. This talk entails introduction to the phenomenon of neural plasticity, review of the studies on structural and functional neural plasticity and the role of specific factors in shaping neural plasticity. In particular, Prof. Denes will discuss the interplay of neural plasticity and language: the bilingual brain; reading and writing; sensory deprivation and language processing (with more focus on signed language and Braille reading). The talk will also cover the discussion on neural plasticity and the mechanisms of repair after acquired brain lesion.

The talk will take place at the Center for Language and Brain (21/4 Staraya Basmannaya st., room 510).
The language of the workshop is English, no translation will be provided.
