'Other Cities' Book Available for Hospice Donation

'Other Cities' Book Available for Hospice Donation

On its 25th anniversary, HSE has published a book - Other Cities - a collection of stories by the University’s staff about over 80 cities throughout Russia and the rest of the world, where the authors used to live and work, and which directly contributed to their personal and academic paths. The book won’t be on sale, but we will give it to you by making a donation to a hospice.

Anyone interested will be able to get the book after December 4, once they have made donation of 500 roubles (or a greater amount, which would also be great) to the Children's Hospice ‘The Lighthouse’, or the Vera Fund. This money will go to people, who can only dream of seeing other cities. We have 700 books and will be giving them out until December 22 (we’ll only stop earlier if we run out of books).

We don’t need any confirmations of payment (we trust you!). All you need to do is donate to one of these institutions and then pick up your book.

Making a donation is easy. You can donate to one of the following organizations:

Children's Hospice ‘The Lighthouse’; donation page in Russian with further options;

Hospice Charity Fund ‘Vera’ (in Russian).

Furthermore, you can subscribe for monthly donations through these websites. Even a small regular donation can be a huge help.

‘The book turned out to be beautiful. It is a big album with heartwarming stories and wonderful pictures,’ said Maria Yudkevich, HSE Vice Rector, adding: ‘83 stories about 83 cities throughout Russia and around the globe. Each of these stories includes a guide to the city as it is seen by tourists and a view of it as an academic location, with its own schools and universities.’

The authors include Evgeny Yasin, Alexander Arkhangelsky, Vadim Radaev, Vasily Klucharev, Konstantin Sonin, Maria Yudkevich, Gasan GusejnovJan Levchenko and others.

Here, you can check out the first pages of the book, and a short video about it.

If you are interested, you can pick up your gift on any workday, from 10am to 7pm, at Building 4, 13 Myasnitskaya, Moscow. Please contact Olga Turanskaya in advance at oturanskaya@hse.ru, or by phone +7 (495) 772-95-90, ext. 11830; +7 (915) 249-42-79.
