This question has been one of the most fascinating and widely-discussed topics in philosophy. Since the last several decades, the so-called problem of free will has been attracting the attention of researchers from many disciplines. The purpose of my talk will be, firstly, to shed light on central philosophical approaches to the problem of free will, secondly, to consider free will experiments recently conducted by neuroscientists and, thirdly, to discuss whether these experiments may help us to understand the nature of free will.
