Seminar on ' School Engagement and Math Performance: Ratings from Students and Teachers in Russia '
On June 24 a Neuropsylab seminar on 'School Engagement and Math Performance: Ratings from Students and Teachers in Russia' will be held at HSE.
School engagement reflects cognitive, emotional and behavioral aspects of children’s investment in learning at their school. Studies show that school engagement is linked with important outcomes such as health risk behaviors and scholastic achievement. Critically, it is unclear how school engagement relates to mathematical performance as an important indication of academic performance in Russian children. In this seminar we use original data collected from Moscow schools to uncover the extent to which both ratings of school engagement made by teachers and students can predict academic performance of Russian students (in terms of math, science, language and reading). However, the focus of this study will be on math performance because this subject is a core subject in school curriculum and fundamental for children’s scholastic and career success. Therefore, if you are interested to know which rating (Teachers vs. Students) could better predict academic performance (i.e., Math, Science, Languages and reading) of Russian students then do not forget to save the date and time of this seminar.
