place is the ranking held by the HSE University’s English-language website according to a study of university websites conducted by the Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC). The rating assessed the websites of 67 universities in Russia.
HSE remains the undisputed leader of the rating, earning 97 out of a possible 108 points and outpacing the closest Russian competitor by 13 points. Second and third places are held by Ural Federal University and ITMO University, which each have 84 and 82 points, respectively. Broadly speaking, the study notes that of the 65 universities that were represented in the rating last year, 38 (58.4% of the total) improved their scores.
Conducted for the fourth time, the study is based on 108 parameters that are divided into 16 conceptual blocks – university structure and history, admissions requirements, educational programmes, student life, alumni, academic research, etc.
A comparison was also made with 10 foreign universities that are part of the Top 100 of the QS rating and that come from countries where English is not the native language. Considered in the analysis were universities from Europe (University of Amsterdam, the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne, ETH Zurich, Heidelberg University and ENS Paris), Asia (Tsinghua University, University of Tokyo, and KAIST), and the Middle East (Qatar University and Abu Dhabi University). The overall index shows that in terms of content, the websites of universities leading the Russian rating are outperforming those of universities that lead the QS rating.
According to a national survey conducted by VCIOM, HSE University ranks fifth in the ‘People’s Ranking of Russian Universities’. A total of 1,600 Russians aged over 18 participated in the survey, which was carried out through phone interviews, relying on a random sample of landline and mobile numbers.
Today’s publication of four international subject area rankings in the life sciences, physical sciences, psychology, and medical and health sciences by the Times Higher Education (THE) marks the end of this year’s rankings cycle, which includes the four major world rankings—THE, QS, ARWU, and U.S. News & World Report.
HSE took 94th place in the THE ranking in Business & Economics, outperforming all the other Russian universities in this subject. In addition, the university entered the ranking in Law for the first time (151+ cohort), becoming the only Russian university represented there.
HSE University Becomes Russia’s Only Academic Institution in U.S. News Best Global Universities Rankings in Economics and Social Sciences
HSE University has improved its standing in the general U.S. News Best Global Universities ranking. Today, the agency published its 2019 global rankings. HSE University appeared in the Economics and Business ranking for the first time, placing 235th. We are also the only Russian institution to make the cut.
HSE University has taken the first place in the ranking of entrepreneurial universities and business schools by Expert Analysis Centre. The ranking’s evaluation criteria include startups that were launched by alumni of economics or business programmes.
HSE University improved its performance from last year, entering the Top-200 of the Times Higher Education (THE) subject ranking in Arts and Humanities. We now place second among Russian universities and have the best results of the participants of the Russian Academic Excellence Project 5-100.
HSE University is now represented in all four fields of the Top-100 of Business Master's ranking, which was published for the third time by the international agency QS.
HSE University was able to place high on the Graduate Employability Ranking (201-250), outpacing its main competitors for the first time in five years. This year, the number of candidates to the ranking was increased 15% (758 universities), with new 36 universities joining the list.
HSE University has firmly entered the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), which is known for its rigorous selection criteria. After placing in the ranking for the first time last year, HSE University maintained its position despite increased competition — more than 50 new universities entered the ranking for the first time this year.
HSE recently placed 39th in the QS Top-50 ‘Under 50’ ranking, thus maintaining its position in the Top-40 despite increasing competition in this special academic category.
