New RSCI List Includes 792 Journals
The Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI) has released a new journal list on the Web of Science Platform. The list was prepared by a group of experts at the Index who assessed the journals in terms of their quality and academic integrity.
The expert group considered 237 RSCI applications from journals that were submitted by October of 2019. The monitoring commission submitted 100 journals for exclusion from the index for violation of academic and publishing ethics, and 41 journals violated the RSCI regulations by not providing the metadata of their issues from 2019 and earlier for the RSCI database. The group also considered the relevant series of Doklady Akademii Nauk (Academy of Sciences’ Reports), which have been published as five separate journals since 2020.
With regard to each journal in the index, the experts analysed over 50 bibliometric indicators and statistical reports over the last four years. They also ranked the journals based on a public expertise that involved over 20,000 scholars. They evaluated the academic level and sustainability of the papers’ quality, the journal’s compliance with publishing and academic ethics, and the quality of the journal’s design.
As a result of this work, 64 journals have been excluded from the existing RSCI list (777 journals). 79 journals have been added to the RSCI (including five series of the Academy of Sciences’ Reports). 15 more journals are expecting a decision: the expert councils will prepare their conclusions on these journals by the end of 2020.

The new list of RSCI journals will be published on the websites of the Russian Academy of Sciences, eLibrary.Ru, Moscow State University, HSE University, and the State Research Centres Association.

The New RSCI List Now Includes 887 Journals
The Russian Science Citation Index (RSCI) quality assessment and journal selection working group based on Web of Science has completed its updates to the RSCI list. The group particularly considered journals that submitted 219 initiative applications last year. The updated list includes 87 new journals, with 2 journals having been excluded.

Educational Studies Moscow journal, which is published by HSE University, is now included in the second quartile (Q2) of the Scopus international scientometric database.
