CCEIS Online Seminar ‘ Coronavirus and the Franco-German axis within European Union ’

On May 28 at 12.00 (Moscow time), the HSE Centre for Comprehensive European and International Studies with the support of the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs are organizing an online seminar ‘Coronavirus and the Franco-German axis within European Union’.

The management of the COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in renewed tensions between European Union member states and revived the old economic rivalry between North and South of EU during negotiations to build a recovery plan. The Franco-German axis is trying again to position itself at the center of EU power to find a solution, but their different geopolitical visions of Europe brings uncertainty regarding EU's future.

Participants will discuss the specifics and prospects of interaction between France and Germany within the EU against the background of the pandemic, their role in stabilizing the situation and potential opportunities to optimize relations between the EU and Russia.
