Dean of HSE Graduate School of Business Appointed EFMD Fellow
The European Foundation for Management Development, a global association of leading business schools and companies, has only 18 EFMD Fellows in the world—one for each main region in which the Foundation operates. All fellows are former or present deans of the leading business schools (such as IMD, Kellogg, CEIBS, ESADE, WU Vienna, HEC Montreal, to name a few).
Each EFMD Fellow is appointed as an honorary and life-long member of EFMD and helps to promote and advocate in his/her country/region the value and benefits of management education and development and the international community that EFMD represents and supports. Professor Valery Katkalo, HSE First Vice Rector and Dean of HSE Graduate School of Business, has been appointed by the EFMD as its representative for Russia. This prestigious award was bestowed upon Professor Katkalo by the EFMD Board of Trustees in recognition of his ‘outstanding contribution to management education and longstanding dedication and support of the EFMD international network’.

The European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD), which will celebrate in 2021 its 50th anniversary, is a global, membership driven organisation, based in Brussels, Belgium, with offices in Asia and the Americas. As the largest international network association in the field of management development, the EFMD network includes over 900 institutional members and reaches more than 30,000 management development professionals from academia, business, public service and consultancy across 88 countries worldwide.
Business school members include IMD, INSEAD, IE, LBS, Wharton, HEC Montréal, PUC Chile, INCAE, Antai, Korea University, CEIBS, University of Sydney, IIM Ahmedabad, Stellenbosch and many other leading schools from around the world. The Brain in Space: Investigating the Effects of Long Spaceflights on Space Travellers
As part of an international project conducted with the participation of Roscosmos and the European Space Agency, a team of researchers used differential tractography to analyse dMRI scans ofcosmonauts’ brains and found significant changes in brain connectivity, with some of the changes persisting after seven months back on Earth. The paper is published in Frontiers in Neural Circuits.

The Majority of Russians Do Not Support Microchip Implants
The majority of Russians would not agree to being fitted with microchip implants for any purposes—medical or otherwise. A joint study conducted by HSE University’s International Laboratory for Applied Network Research and Aventica found that respondents believe the risks of personal data leaks and misuse to be too high.
