The world is on the threshold of the fourth industrial revolution- production will be entirely digital. With cheap wireless communication, the Internet of Things is rapidly developing - a set of physical objects which interact as part of a global network. It will soon amount to tens of billions. From 2018, the MIEM HSE Master's programme, ‘Internet of Things and Cyber-physical Systems’ will train specialists capable of developing and managing such systems.
The first intake into this new Master’s programme will be in 2018 and its graduates will be able to work in the field of language policy. Denis Zubalov, Academic Supervisor of the programme 'Language Policy in the Context of Ethnocultural Diversity' told the HSE News Service all about what students will be studying, how urbanization is linked to language policy and what killer languages are.
Admissions to tuition-free doctoral studies at HSE open on February 01, 2018. International students can choose from 15 PhD programmes in fields ranging from Mathematics to Art and Design. The programmes are offered at HSE campuses in Moscow, Saint Petersburg, and Nizhny Novgorod. It is not necessary to speak Russian in order to pursue a PhD at HSE – the thesis can be written in English. Several international students are already pursuing doctoral degrees at HSE and one of them, Keunwon Choi from South Korea, has shared his impressions with us.
HSE and University of London Create a New Bachelor’s Parallel Degree Programme in Management and Digital Innovation

Master’s programme in Governance of Science, Technology, and Innovation has been offered by HSE ISSEK since 2014. In 2017, HSE launched a new English-taught master’s programme ‘Applied Statistics with Network Analysis’.Valentina Kuskova, head of theInternational laboratory for Applied Network Research, told the HSE news service how network research works in social studies.
Applications are now being accepted for HSE doctoral programmes. The 2018 procedure is similar to that used by many international universities: exams can be sat online and in English, and HSE can now confer its own academic degrees. December is one of the two months during the year when students can transfer to HSE from other academic institutions. To facilitate this process, HSE has introduced an online service for those seeking a transfer.
In 2018, the Higher School of Economics will launch an English-taught double degree programme in partnership with the University of London in Applied Data Analysis. Graduates will be awarded an undergraduate degree from HSE in Applied Mathematics and Information Science and a Bachelor of Science in Data Science and Business Analytics from the University of London. International applicants are invited to apply online starting November 15, 2017.
