Scientific Seminar “Russia and India: Towards a New Agenda of Bilateral Relations”
On 28 March at 15:00 in Aud.106, 17 Malaya Ordynka Street, the Department of World Economy will hold a scientific seminar with the support of the Russian International Affairs Council and the Embassy of the Republic of India in the Russian Federation.

The seminar speaker will be Dr Surjit Bhalla - Indian economist, writer and member of the advisory board of the EGROW Foundation, Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for the Republic of India (2019-2022). Dr Surjit Bhalla will deliver a lecture “India’s March towards a Middle-Class country”.
As part of the lecture, Dr Bhalla will provide an analysis of key changes in India over the past 30 years, including record poverty reduction, declining social inequality, and the growing importance of education, especially women's education, in economic transformation.
There will also be a discussion on global trends such as the shrinking global working age population and growing opportunities in the South Asian region, creating unique conditions for economic growth and investment development in India over the next decade.
The moderator of the seminar is Igor Makarov, Head of the Department of World Economy, Faculty of World Economy and World Politics.
