Application of Chern Classes to the Problem of Enumeration of Multisingularities
Many problems of enumerative geometry can be formulated as follows.
There is a space $A$ and we need to calculate the cohomology class corresponding to a cycle in~$A$ defined by some degeneracy condition. Quite often, it can be represented as a cycle of singularity or multisingularity of some holomorphic map of manifolds.
As an example, one can consider the following simple question: how many double points does a generic degree $d$ rational curve in $\mathbb P^2$ have?
At the seminar we will discuss the way to calculate the class of multisingularity.
