Webinar "Trust in AI in the Russian Banking Sector"

Event ended

On July 30 at 6:00 PM, the Master's program "Data Analytics and Applied Statistics" will hold an Open Day, featuring a speaker from Anna Uzenyuk, a graduate of the program.

Banks publicly report billions in investments in artificial intelligence, but what do their customers really think about it? The Ministry of Digital Development is already preparing a bill requiring banks to offer the option to switch to a live operator when interacting with AI, and the discussion of algorithm transparency is increasingly prominent on regulators' agendas. To what extent are Russians willing to trust AI in banking, what hinders this trust, and does this picture match what's happening globally?

To find the answers, we went beyond theory: we collected 36,000 real customer reviews from six of Russia's largest banks and six US banks, surveyed 145 mobile banking users in major Russian cities, and tracked how the topic of AI is being discussed in public Telegram channels. For our analysis, we used language models, an expanded dictionary of banking vocabulary, and a wide range of statistical methods.

The results were, in some places, unexpected and have practical significance for both banks and regulators. Come and see us.
