Campaign to Select Term Papers and Theses Now Underway

Event ended

Dear teachers and academic staff at HSE,

According to HSE’s Regulations on Term Papers and Theses of Students Studying in Bachelor’s, Specialist’s and Master’s Programmes at National Research University Higher School of Economics, as of September 11, 2017, preparations are underway to launch a campaign to select topics for term papers and theses of students participating in all academic programmes at HSE.

This Campaign Consists of the Following Stages:

Stage 1

September 11 – October 1 – Proposals from term papers and theses by academic supervisors (i.e., HSE teachers and academic staff). Ideas for term papers and theses can be submitted through the special ‘Term Paper/Thesis Topic’ module, which is accessible through personal accounts in HSE’s Learning Management System (LMS). All submissions will be automatically forwarded to relevant academic supervisors (faculty staff) of educational programmes.

Stage 2

October 1-15 - Approval of proposals for term papers and thesis work by academic supervisors of HSE educational programmes.

Stage 3

October 15 – November 20 – Selection of term papers and thesis work by students. During this stage, all students will get to choose a topic from a list of term paper/thesis subjects approved by academic supervisors in the ‘Term Paper/Thesis Application’ module (instructions for this module will be made available later). Students will be able to apply for a proposed topic or propose their own idea. Student applications will be approved or refused by the academic supervisor of the given subject. During discussions, a topic may be adjusted or changed. Students may communicate with academic supervisors in person (during office hours), via HSE e-mail or other means of communication.

Please note that department managers can assist you with filing term papers and graduation theses in the LMS.

Should any technical problems arise in regards to the modules or their set-up, please contact LMS Support at lms@hse.ru with the headline: ‘Term Paper/Thesis Issue’.
