The Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs invites you to participate in the Lecture by professor Ra Jong Il on October 11, 17:00. Professor Ra Jong Il is a Professor of Political Studies at Gachon University (Incheon ), he acted as an Ambassador to Great Britain (2001-2003) and Japan (2004-2007). Professor Ra Jong Il is a prominent social and political figure as well as novelist.

About Prof. Ra:

Ra Jong Il received his Ph.D. from University of Cambridge. He has held academic posts at a number of institutes including Kyung Hee Univiersity, the University of Cambridge, and the University of Southern California. He became Special Aide to South Korean President Kim Dae-jung on foreign and security policy. Later he joined the government and served in a number posts including Chief of Administration of the Presidential Transition Committee (1997-1998), First and Second Director of the National Intelligence Service (1998-1999), Special Assistant to the Director of the NIS (1999-2001), Ambassador to the UK (2001-2003) and Japan (2004-2007), Senior National Security Advisor to the President (2003-2004). He is also the former President of Woosuk University (2007-2011). He is now University Distinguished Professor at Hanyang University teaching international relations.

He is also known internationally as a novelist. His works have been published in a number of countries such as US, China, Japan, Hungary, Russia and Iran. In 2013, Ra released a book about Kang Min-chul, the only person who ever admitted involvement with an attempt to assassinate the South Korean president in 1983. In 2016 he released a book The Path Taken by Jang Song-thaek: A Rebellious Outsider about North Korean general Jang Song-thaek and Kim Jong-il.
