On Thursday, April 4th, 2023, at 18.00, the HSE Department of International Relations, together with the International Laboratory for Research on World Order and New Regionalism, and the Bulgarian Club, will hold a seminar with the participation of Ivan Krastev, a political scientist, chairman of the think tank of the Center for Liberal Strategies in Sofia, a researcher at the Human Sciences Institute in Vienna, and Dimitri Trenin, one of the most respected Russian experts in international relations, Senior Research Professor at the Faculty of World Economy and World Politics of the Higher School of Economics. Topic of the seminar – “One Year After”.

Ivan Krastev is a political scientist, chairman of the think tank Centre for Liberal Strategies in Sofia and a researcher at the Human Sciences Institute in Vienna. He is a founder and member of the European Council on Foreign Affairs, the International Crisis Group and GLOBSEC. Ivan Krastev is a regular contributor to The New York Times and other international and Bulgarian media. He has been recognized as one of the world's 100 leading public intellectuals. He is the author of several books, including: "After Europe" (2017), "The Light That Failed: Why the West Is Losing the Fight for Democracy" (2019) and "Is it tomorrow yet? How the pandemic is changing Europe" (2020).

Dmitri Trenin is one of Russia's most respected international relations experts. He was a senior associate at the Institute of Europe of the Russian Academy of Sciences from 1993 to 1997, and at the NATO Defense College in Rome in 1993. Member of the Russian Council on Foreign Affairs. Senior Research Professor at the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs, National Research University Higher School of Economics. Leading researcher at IMEMO RAN. Author of a number of books including: Getting Russia Right (2007), Should We Fear Russia (2017), The New Balance of Power. Russia in Search of a Foreign Policy Balance (2021).
