HSE University and Samolet to Train Data Analysts in Development
HSE University’s Faculty of Computer Science and Samolet, one of Russia’s largest development companies, are launching a new Master’s Programme 'Data Science for Construction, Architecture and Engineering'. Samolet will finance the tuition of the 30 best applicants on the programme.

Big Challenges: Project Session on Yamal Held at HSE University
HSE University has hosted the project session ‘The Big Challenges Faced by Yamal’, whose speakers included Governor of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug (YaNAO) Dmitry Artyukhov, HSE University Rector Nikita Anisimov, and Vice Rector Dmitry Zemtsov. HSE University students designed concepts for expeditions to the region that they will be able to embark on in 2023–2024 as part of the ‘Rediscovering Russia’ project.

Oriental Crazy Day 2023: Photos with Panda, Calligraphy and Oriental Hospitality
On May 21, HSE School of Asian Studies organised their traditional Oriental Crazy Day for 2023. Prospective students learnt more about HSE degree programmes and admission process, and met with students and university teachers at the ‘Meeting under the Stars’ held at the HSE Cultural Centre.

‘Light and Air’ Exhibition of HSE Art and Design School Opens at Arkhangelskoye Museum
On May 17, the ‘Light and Air’ group exhibition project was opened by students of the HSE Art and Design School at the Arkhangelskoye Museum Estate. The exhibits created by the university’s contemporary artists in training reflect on how people are connected with nature. The exhibition is open until July 9.

Russian Scientists Discover Method for Enhancing the Capacitance of Supercapacitors
A supercapacitor is a device capable of rapidly storing and releasing a significant amount of energy within a matter of seconds. It consists of metal electrodes immersed in an electrolyte solution. In their model, MIEM HSE scientists substituted the conventional low-molecular-weight electrolyte with a polyelectrolyte, resulting in an unexpected and adverse physical phenomenon: supercapacitors experience a reduction in capacitance when the pore size of the electrode is below 1 nm. By carefully selecting optimal conditions for polyelectrolytes, it becomes possible to develop supercapacitors that are not only more robust but also more efficient in their performance. The study has been published in Physical Review E.
