Free Internet on International Academic Trips

The Higher School of Economics has joined Eduroam (education roaming), a global secure internet access service for the international academic community. Thanks to Eduroam, researchers and students from all over the world can receive WiFi access at any participating institution from their laptop, tablet or smartphone.

How does one connect to the internet at international universities that are part of Eduroam network?

  • Select Eduroam in the list of available WiFi connections.
  • In the authorization form, enter your login and password from the HSE local domain (corporate email). Pay attention to how you enter the login: it should be in the following format: username@hse.ru.
  • During the authorization, your device’s operating system may ask you to confirm the Eduroam network certificate authenticity. Confirm and accept the certificate.

Attention: HSE students and staff cannot use Eduroam for internet access at HSE. For this purpose, use ‘hse’, ‘HSE.Work’ and the newly created ‘hse.ru’ connections. Our international guests can get internet access via Eduroam with their university accounts if their university participates in the project. As of 2015, 74 countries are connected to Eduroam. The list and map of institutions connected to the network can be found on the Eduroam website.

If you need additional information, please contact national support service.

If you have problems with your connection abroad, please find the local Eduroam admin’s contacts on the country webpage or contact IT support at the institution where you are trying to connect. If you or your international colleagues have problems accessing the internet via Eduroam at HSE, contact IT support by phone +7 (495) 772-95-90, ext. 22222, or by email at 22222@hse.ru.
