How It Was: Graduation 2018

The theme of this year’s HSE graduation party, which was held at Moscow’s Izvestia Hall, was ‘Bond’. Party-goers enjoyed espionage contests, British humor and, of course, plenty of music.

The program was organized by two student organizations – ‘In-group StS’ and the musical group, ‘NoSilence’. Thanks to their efforts, Izvestia Hall was transformed into the world of the well-known special agent 007.

The walls were decorated with large dice and diamonds. Everyone could have their photo taken with James Bond and his companion. Guests, who were transformed into the heroes of the film for the night, were given their own special missions using a fingerprint and were presented with special agent ID on the spot. They tested their accuracy skills in laser tag, their dexterity with flying bank notes and even tried their luck in opening a safe and neutralizing a ‘bomb’.

The musical line-up included all the hits from the famous film franchise – songs by Adele and Sam Smith, as well as Skyfall, which was performed by Daris and the HSE. Guests sang along with the musicians to the popular tune. Roza, The Sky and Noire Blanche performed hits by Christina Aguilera, Adam Lambert, Stevie Wonder and other famous faces. DJs came later in the evening with their sets, making sure that the dance floor was occupied until dawn. The party-goers were congratulated on stage by HSE’s vice-rector, Igor Chirikov. He told them that, as HSE graduates, they can look forward to personal and professional victories, successful careers and exciting futures.

‘I was expecting a very cool event, and my expectations were definitely met,’ said Irina Ushchekina, a graduate of the Design programme. ‘I arrived to see a throng of beautiful-looking, well-dressed people. But what was most enjoyable was the atmosphere. I went to have a good time and to celebrate with my friends and peers, and that’s what I did.’

‘What's next?’ mused Business Informatics graduate, Vitaly Volkov. ‘I think we all have a lot to look forward to. I plan to continue my studies at HSE and will do a Master’s degree, but I haven’t decided on the programme yet. The best thing about being an HSE graduate is that I have freedom of choice.’
