Outstanding Alumni Establish a New Award for Students Involved in Research

HSE graduates have launched a programme that will annually award winners of the Student Research Paper Competition in those subject areas in which the university is an international leader.

As a result, students who wrote the best papers in economics, sociology and political science in 2018 received awards worth 50,000 roubles each.

‘We hope that this initiative will attract more talented students to HSE’s strongest research departments. All our Club’s programmes are aimed at reinforcing the university brand by means of supporting the best representatives of the current generation of students’, said Sergey Pavlovsky, President of the HSE Donors’ Club.

The Club’s programmes are funded from the HSE Endowment, which is supported by outstanding graduates and annually increases, thanks to donations from alumni, and today is approaching 10 million roubles. Another of the Club’s active programmes is co-funding student team trips to international intellectual competitions. The Club plans to increase the Endowment so that the whole budget for intellectual competitions (4 million roubles) can be covered by trust management of the Endowment assets.
