HSE’s Got Talent

On December 7th 2012, the 9th annual award ceremony for student participation in university life, the ‘Iron Eggs’, took place at the HSE Cultural Centre.

The team behind the new student TV channel, ‘High School TV’, took first prize in the ‘Debut of the Year’ category. These students shoot reports about many facets of cultural life including flash-mobs, festivals, theatre openings and sporting events as well as interviewing interesting people. Their videos can be found at http://www.youtube.com/user/HighSchooTelevision.

The prize for ‘Social project organization’ went to the team from the ‘ICEF outreach’ charity initiative, founded in 2007. These students use their knowledge in the social sciences in order to evaluate problems in society, and, most importantly, to help sick children and orphans. The project received a special prize of 100,000 roubles and this money will be spent on organizing a prom at a children’s home in Elatma (Ryazan Oblast).

The participants of the Velonotte (Cycling Night) were acknowledged to be the outstanding sports club at the HSE. This student organization, founded in spring 2012, received an ‘Iron Egg’ for ‘Sports Achievement of the Year’. Velonotte is not just a nighttime bicycle ride, but also a fascinating challenge around Moscow. Greeting the dawn at Vorobievy Gory, launching sky lanterns and participating in games, contests and quests has proved to be both entertaining and stimulating!

The organizers of the ‘Night at the Cultural Centre’ event received the prize for ‘Organization of a cultural entertainment project’. Last year the same team received the award for ‘Debut of the year’.

Students from the ‘High School Radio’ project won the ‘Media resource of the year’. Thanks to them, the HSE is kept supplied with music for all moods and tastes. See http://hsehelp.ru/node/70 .

The ceremony has certainly proved that the HSE’s got talent!
