Philologist Mikhail Andreev Becomes Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences

Leading researcher at the Poletayev Institute for Theoretical and Historical Studies in the Humanities, respected Russian Italian studies specialist and expert on literature of the Middle Ages and Renaissance, Mikhail Andreev, has been made Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

VTB24 Establishes Chair at HSE

Following a long history of cooperation between HSE and VTB24 bank, a programme has been launched to fund financial research through a university endowment. This entails the establishment of a VTB Chair position as the logical outcome of this programme.

Portrait galleries of renowned scientists, research laboratories right next to large classrooms and auditoriums, educational programmes for students and principals – these are just a few of the things discussed during an excursion around the HSE Institute of Education as part of the Open House project. Victoria Malova, a second-year student in the Evidence-Based Education Policy master’s programme, and Denis Federiakin, a second-year student in the Measurement in Psychology and Education master’s programme, served as the tour guides for the day.

2nd Place

Second-year student in the HSE/NES Programme in Economics, Maksim Vavulin, placed second in the FIDE World Youth Under 18 Chess Championship. The championship took place in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia from September 21st through October 5th

Russian Government Expresses Gratitude to HSE Experts

The Government of the Russian Federation has expressed its gratitude the Director of the HSE Centre for Labour Market Studies (CLMS), Vladimir Gimpelson, and the Director of the HSE Institute for Social Policy (ISP), Lilia Ovcharova, for their hard work and professional contributions.

HSE students donated blood on the last day of the autumn Donor Marathon, which took place at the blood donation department of City Hospital No 52.

Students from universities in Russia and abroad have until October 31st to submit their applications for HSE’s open competition for research conducted in business informatics, computer science, mathematics, media communications, and political science.

Members of HSE’s Extreme Sports Club again reached the top of Russia and Europe’s highest peak on Mount Elbrus in August of this year. All participants in this ascent received the title of ‘Alpinist of Russia’. Below we present a diary of their trip, covering such topics as a thunderous snowstorm during their ascent, eating lunch at Yury Vizbor’s favorite café and much more.

Monument to Anonymous Peer Reviewer to Be Erected at HSE

A group of HSE staff has launched a Kickstarter account to raise funds for an unusual project – a monument to an anonymous peer reviewer. If enough money is raised, the monument will be erected near the HSE Institute of Education.
