Campus news at HSE University

Several HSE instructors recognized as ‘the best’ in their fields would like congratulate students with the start of academic year and hope that they don’t give in to procrastination, take advantage of all opportunities available at HSE, have a good sleep before exams at least once, and remember that teachers are humans too!

How does one enter into virtual reality? How many hours does it take a 3D printer to print a bust of Van Gogh? And is it true that in one of HSE’s laboratories, you can monitor low Earth orbit satellites in real time? In the newest edition of Open House, Anastasia Zaitseva and Artem Ivanov, both fourth-year students in the Informatics and Computing Technology undergraduate programme, talk about these questions and more.

At the end of July it became officially known that the academic supervisor of the HSE International Laboratory of Game Theory and Decision Making, Professor Hervé Moulin, was elected as Vice President of the International Game Theory Society (GTS). The main purpose of the organization is to promote and support research, teaching and applications of game theory.

Jonathan Gerhard from James Madison University spent one semester studying in Math in Moscow programme run jointly by HSE, Moscow Center for Continuous Mathematical Education, and Independent University of Moscow. During his time in Russia Jonathan took intensive maths courses, studied the Russian language and traveled to several Russian cities.

Packaging of the World, a popular online resource for designers and marketing professions, has published a packaging design for Smilex12+ toothpaste developed by Anna Kosheleva, a third year student at HSE’s Art and Design School. Her work was overseen by Alexandra Kuznetsova, the school’s Academic Supervisor of Bachelor's programme in Design.
