Boris Akunin: A Real History - In the Footsteps of Karamzin

On the 19th of March at a meeting organised by the HSE and the Liberal Mission Foundation in the series “More important than politics”, the writer Grigory Chkhartishvili, better known as Boris Akunin, author of the world famous novels about Russian detective Erast Fandorin, disclosed his ambitious new project to write a history of the Russian state.

HSE and SeoulTech: Cooperation Agreement

At the end of February 2013, a delegation from the Seoul National University of Science and Technology (SeoulTech) visited the HSE. As a result of negotiations, an agreement was finalized on student exchange between the two universities. The framework cooperation agreement between the HSE and SeoulTech was signed in April 2012.

HSE Law Faculty Team Going to Washington for the “Jessup”

The HSE Law Faculty team are finalists for the first time in the Russian stage of the Phillip C. Jessup International Law Competition which finished on February 3rd. The competition started in 1960 when it was between two teams at the Harvard Faculty of Law (on Cuban agricultural reform), since when it has travelled around the world. The competition acquired the name of the famous American international lawyer and judge at the International Court from 1961 to 1970, Phillip C. Jessup (1897-1986)

XIV April Conference: Preliminary Programme

From April 2 – 5 the HSE, with the support of the World Bank and IMF will be holding the XIV April International Conference on Economic and Social Development. Andrey Yakovlev, deputy head of the committee, told us about the preliminary programme of the forum.

French at the Institut de Touraine

Would you like to learn French from scratch? Do you need to broaden your language skills in a certain area? Either way the Institut de Touraine is the place to go. For more than two years HSE students and staff members have been visiting Tours to take various language courses. In an interview with the HSE News Service, Britta Vincent, the institute’s director for international relations, talks about studying French in the heart of the famous Loire Valley.

Caucasus 2020: Speaking about Painful Problems Honestly

On December 11th, 2012, the youth forum ‘Caucasus 2020’ took place at the HSE. The event was organized jointly by the HSE Chamber of Nationalities club and the Association of World Economy, a student organization. The Center of Russian Language at the Faculty of Philology, Higher School of Economics offers the Summer School of Russian-2013. The program is uniquely designed to address the demands of international students in language training, Russian peer communication, cultural and social events.
