Cyber Battle at HSE

Everyone has friends who like to play video games. But for some it’s more than just entertainment – it’s a professional sport that requires a lot of energy and time for training and participating in various contests. S people are called cybersportsmen, and this movement is becoming more popular in Russia. High School Sports media project with the support of MIEM administration held the first HSE cybersport tournament ‘Cyber HSE’.

Cyber HSE was organized in order to select the best gamers who will represent HSE in the city university contest – Moscow Cybersport League – that is part of Moscow Student Sport Games. The competitions were held in three disciplines: CS:GO, Dota 2, and FIFA 16.

18 teams in Dota 2, 16 teams in CS:GO  and 90 students in FIFA took part in the event. The competition lasted a week as over 300 participants went through online qualifying rounds. The best cybersportsmen met in the finals on MIEM campus in Strogino (34 Tallinskaya Ulitsa).

The game was broadcast online and about 300 people watched it. After a lengthy battle the winners were determined. The team ‘We Don’t Care’ won the battle in CS:GO. ‘No Anime’ won the contest in Dota 2. The students not only managed to beat the favorites in the qualification round, but also left their opponents behind in the finals.
