On September 30, Yaroslav Kuzminov, rector of the Higher School of Economics, and representatives of the HSE met with a delegation from Japan’s Tohoku University led by the university’s president, Susumu Satomi. Both sides signed university-wide agreements on cooperation and academic and students exchange between the universities in the fields of linguistics, economics and management and other areas of mutual interest.
Carol Myford, associate professor in the Department of Educational Psychology at the University of Illinois at Chicago. In her research, she focuses on scoring issues in large-scale performance and portfolio assessments. Outside of academia, she has considerable experience working in government, business and industry. Sociologists have conducted research on what professions Russian parents would like their children to do in the future. The results follow the changing dynamics of the job market in recent years and show that humanities-based occupations are no longer seen as desirable.
Oleg Podolskiy is Research Fellow of the Institute of Education and Project Manager of the PIAAC in Russian Federation – this is an international survey implemented by The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD). This project plays a significant role in modern science; it studies the competence of the adult population in mathematical, reading, and ICT literacy, i.e. their ability to solve complex tasks with the help of modern technologies, computer, and the Internet.

Michael Fullan, Professor Emeritus of the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto, internationally renowned and the most widely cited authority in educational science for the past two decades, will present a seminar at the HSE Institute of Education.
