How Not to Fall Victim to a Computer Virus

In the last few days, a very dangerous virus that encrypts all data on computers and demands money for decryption has been appearing on the Internet. Over 300,000 computers have been infected around the world. Computers running Microsoft Windows operating systems are at particular risk. As a result, Microsoft has released an update that eliminates vulnerability.

To protect your PC from this virus and prevent data loss, the HSE Office of Information Technology strongly recommends that you install all available updates on your computer.

Instructions for Windows 7
Instructions for Windows 10

Please follow the instructions in the file attached (refer to the instructions for the version of the operating system installed on your PC).

If you fail to install the updates, or if your PC has an older version of the operating system than specified in the instructions and you don't know how to install updates on it, please make a request for ‘setup of IT equipment at the workplace’ via the HSE BPM. Specialists from the HSE IT Office will contact you and help you.

If you have any questions, please contact the HSE Office of Information Technology.
