In 2014, an innovative master’s programme on ‘Philosophy, Politics and Economics’ (PPE) will open at the HSE. The new programme is a result of cooperation between several HSE faculties: Political Science, Economics, Philosophy, and World Economy and International Affairs. Witten/Herdecke University (Germany) is an international partner of the programme.
On October 14-16, 2013, the International Student Forum ‘Visions of a Wider Europe’ will take place at the HSE. The Forum is dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the first negotiations between Russia and the WTO, initiated by the first President of Russia, Boris Yeltsin, and Russia’s imminent entry into the OECD.

On October 17-19, 2013 the international conference ‘Social and Human Sciences on Both Sides of the “Iron Curtain”’ organized by the HSEPoletayev Institute for Theoretical and Historical Studies in the Humanities will be held in Moscow. Olessia Kirtchik, senior research fellow at the Poletayev Institute for Theoretical and Historical Studies in the Humanities, member of the programme committee of the conference spoke to HSE news service about the conference and why this is such an intriguing area of study.
Professor of Stockholm University, Yves Zenou, formerly post-graduate student of Jacques Thisse, Director of the HSE International Laboratory at the Centre for Market Studies and Spatial Economics gave a series of lectures to students at HSE St Petersburg on networks in economics.
The 9th interdisciplinary workshop on intangibles, intellectual capital and extra-financial information was held at the Copenhagen Business School at the end of September. It was organized by EIASM (the European Institute for Advanced Studies in Management). On October 8, 2013, the results of the Programme for the International Assessment of Adult Competencies (PIAAC) will be published in Russia and several other countries. In Russia, the presentation will take place at the Higher School of Economics in Moscow.
Christian Ahlin, Associate Professor of Economics at Michigan State University, has begun lecturing at the HSE Nizhny Novgorod. Professor Ahlin teaches development economics as an elective course for undergraduate students, Economics programme students, and second-year postgraduate students.
