HSE Team Takes Part in the CFA Institute Research Challenge for the Fourth Time

The HSE's Banking Institute has selected the team that will represent the University at the CFA Institute Research Challenge 2014-2015 international student completition in financial analysis.

The CFA Institute is an international organization bringing together tens of thousands of financial specialists across the globe. Each year, teams from hundreds of the world's leading universities that offer finance and business courses take part in the CFA Institute Research Challenge. Students are tasked with carrying out research and preparing test case analyses of a company and estimating its worth.
The HSE team has taken part three times — last year, winning second place.

This year, five people competed for each place on the HSE team, so a phased selection process was used. Students carried out several tasks, such as building the financial model of a company, having an interview with company mentors, preparing a 1 minute presentation about themselves in English — showcasing their talents.

The competition was fierce, and the HSE team now includes: Diana Durdieva, Ksenia Kushner, Anastasia Tikhonova, Anna Tikhonova and Suren Avanyan (who are all enrolled in the Financial Economics course). HSE Academic Supervisor Evgeny Yasin took part in the ceremony congratulating the winners, wishing them best of luck at the regional (Russian) stage of the CFA Institute Research Challenge.

HSE Banking Institute currently runs the only two Master's programmes in the whole of Eastern Europe which have official partner status with the CFA Institute. These are Master's programme Financial Analyst and the MBA in Investment Management.
