Alexander Lukin’s Trip to India

January 17 - 23, 2016, Alexander Lukin, Head of the School of International Affairs, spoke at some universities and influential research centres in Delhi on an academic trip to India.

On January 18, he delivered a lecture - Russia Turns to Asia and Establishing A New Global Order — at Jawaharlal Nehru University and conducted a seminar on ‘Russia Turns to Asia and Russian-Chinese Relations’ at Vivekananda International Foundation.

On January 19th and 20th, Alexander Lukin participated in the Ideology, Politics and New Security Challenges in West Asia international conference organized by the Institute for Defence Studies and Analyses, where he gave a paper, ‘Russian Policy in West Asia and its Action in Syria’. The conference opened with a keynote address by Shri Mohammad Hamid Ansari, the Honorable Vice President of India. The event attracted pundits from the Middle East and Central Asia, representatives of India’s Ministry of External Affairs, Ministry of Defence and research centres, as well as journalists and diplomats (see photos).

On January 22, Alexander Lukin met with Dr. Radha Kumar, Director General of the Delhi Policy Group, and Ajai Malhotra, Independent Director of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation and former Indian Ambassador to the Russian Federation. In the afternoon, Dr. Lukin spoke once again on the theme, ‘Russia Turns to Asia’ at the United Service Institute.

During his visit Alexander Lukin reached some agreements on joint research, and publishing papers by Russian authors in Scopus-indexed Indian academic journals.
