Be Fab – Start a Lab!

Hardly anyone is unaware that several dozen research and teaching labs are active at HSE, where students making their first steps in academia work together with experienced researchers. Today, HSE is announcing a competition for new research and teaching laboratories as part of the Moscow campus faculties.

Some of the research and teaching laboratories have existed for several years. They have started their own research schools and evolved into real research teams, with some of them even becoming international laboratories. The teams naturally grow up; students proceed to the next levels of education, and the most successful and motivated continue their work at laboratories after graduation.

Today, HSE is announcing a competition for new research and teaching laboratories as part of the Moscow campus faculties. We are going to support teams which suggest interesting (including interdisciplinary), active and large-scale mechanisms of work with students. An important feature of the competition will be the faculties’ participation in the selection of labs, as well as the design of their research and educational agenda. At the first stage of the competition, all the applications will be considered by academic committees in the respective faculties, and the best assessed projects will then proceed to the second phase, where they will be assessed by a university-wide competition committee. The 2018 competition involves the following faculties: Faculty of Computer Science, Faculty of Business and Management, Faculty of Law, Faculty of Humanities, Faculty of Social Sciences, Faculty of World Economy and International Relations, and Faculty of Economic Sciences.

Details of the competition will be published on the University Life section of the HSE website and the Academic Development Office website shortly. Applications will be accepted throughout March. All colleagues from the faculties listed above are invited to participate!
