37%

of Russian doctors note that a number of positions in health care continue to be supported at a high level due to Soviet experience, i.e., strong scientific schools and highly skilled professionals.

Although the majority of surveyed respondents who are associated with the healthcare sector believe that medical education meets modern standards for healthcare workers, 24% of doctors and 30% of teachers at medical schools cite poor quality training. These data are presented in an article by Irina Mersiyanova, Director of the HSE Centre for Studies of Civil Society and Non-Profit Sector, and Irina Krasnopolskaya, a researcher at the Centre.
