Nikita Anisimov Appointed HSE Rector for New Five-Year Term

By decision of the Government of the Russian Federation, HSE University Rector Nikita Anisimov has been appointed for a new five-year term. The corresponding resolution was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin.
‘Appoint Nikita Anisimov as Rector of the Federal State Autonomous Educational Institution of Higher Education “HSE University” for a term of five years,’ the document states.
Nikita Anisimov was born in 1978 in Khimki, in the Moscow Region. He graduated in 1998 from the Faculty of Mechanics and Mathematics at Lomonosov Moscow State University, and in 2002 defended his Candidate of Sciences (PhD) dissertation. He worked at Moscow State University for more than ten years, starting as a leading specialist and leaving as Vice Rector. From 2013 to 2016, Nikita Anisimov served as Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, First Vice Rector, and Acting Rector of the Moscow State University of Mechanical Engineering. From 2016 to 2021, he held the position of Rector of Far Eastern Federal University. On 3 July 2021, by resolution of Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, he was appointed Rector of HSE University.
Nikita Anisimov is a member of the Board of the Russian Union of Rectors, a member of the Presidential Council for the Development of Civil Society and Human Rights, Chair of the Public Council under the Federal Service for Supervision in Education and Science (Rosobrnadzor), and Chair of the Moscow branch of the Russian ‘Znanie’ Society.
