of Russians stated that they are willing to overpay for environmentally friendly food products.

Over the last year the makeup of Russians’ food baskets has changed, with consumers preferring healthier foods. Purchases of semi-processed food decreased by 33%, confectioneries by 32%, alcohol by 31%, and soft drinks (soda, etc.) by 25%. At the same time, demand for fruits and vegetables increased by 50%, dairy products by 38%, and fresh meat and fish by 36%.

These statistics were announced at a joint roundtable held by Romir Research Holding and the Higher School of Economics, ‘The Decline in Consumer Activity: What Happened to Russian Consumers and How to Work in the New Reality’.
