HSE News Service Wins Best Corporate Media Award at 2014 Internet Media Awards
The News Service of the Higher School of Economics won the ‘Best Corporate Media’ award at the Internet Media Awards, which took place as part of the internet forum RIW 2014.
The award was established by the Russian Association for Electronic Communications (RAEC) together with Russian radio station Echo of Moscow (Ekho Moskvy), and this was the first year it was given out. According to the organizers, this is 'the first award in the internet media realm that identifies and evaluates the most important achievements in the modern information sphere.'
The Russian news agency TASS reported that a total of 83 companies and 62 journalists were nominated in the competition. An expert jury consisting of representatives from leading Russian news sources and internet companies determined the winners.
Among other winners were the BFM.ru business news service in the category Internet Version of a Radio Station, the internet publication Look at Me (Best Lifestyle Publication), information agency RosBusinessConsulting (RBC) (Sociopolitical Media), Forbes magazine (Economy and Business), and more.
HSE University has maintained its leading position in the ranking compiled by the Russian Council for International Affairs. The ranking evaluated the websites of 65 Russian universities. HSE was awarded 104 points out of 108, increasing its position by 11 points on last year. HSE's closest rival ranked a further 17 points behind, which is a larger gap than previously.
The winners of the Yegor Gaidar Foundation were announced on November 17, and HSE staff were among those recognized in three nominations.
The HSE’s business incubator was recognized by the Internet Initiatives Development Fund (IIDF) as Incubator of the Year in the first youth internet entrepreneurship forum.

A team from HSE has made it to the Regional Finals of the CFA Institute Research Challenge 2015/2016, recently held in Chicago. The CFA Institute Research Challenge is an annual global competition that provides university students with hands-on mentoring and intensive training in financial analysis.
The HSE’s Sona Hovsepyan Dance Company has won the grand prize at the Klyuchi (Keys) experimental dance festival, also taking home a cash prize and the right to perform and premier an original show at the 2017 festival.
