
HSE’s CardioLife Test Among Winners of Data Fusion Awards 2026
The CardioLife genetic test—a development by the Centre for Biomedical Research and Technologies of the AI and Digital Science Institute at HSE University’s Faculty of Computer Science—has won the All-Russian cross-industry Data Fusion Awards, which recognise achievements in data and AI technologies. The project took first place in the Science–Business Partnership category, demonstrating a successful model for transferring technology from university research into the real healthcare sector.

HSE University and Yandex Cloud Hold Career School on AI Solutions for Social Tasks
HSE University has hosted a project-based career school organised by the Yandex Cloud Centre for Technologies and Society and the HSE Career Development Centre. The programme was intended for second-to-fourth-year bachelor’s students and first-to-second-year master's students of programmes related to social, technical, and business subjects. The school was aimed at students interested in solving social problems using AI technologies.

Forbes has published its eighth annual ranking of the best Russian higher education institutions. HSE University took first place. Its leadership was secured, among other factors, by strong support from employers and high performance in the Academic Environment metric.

HSE Ranked First in 13 Graduate Employment Rankings
HSE University has become the leading Russian educational institution by the number of first-place positions in national graduate employment rankings. The rankings are compiled separately for each field of study, taking into account the share of graduates who find employment and their salary levels. The university ranked first in areas such as Mathematics and Mechanics (Master’s level), Computers Science and Engineering (Bachelor’s level), Information Security (Bachelor’s level), Asian and African Studies (Master’s level), Economics and Management (Bachelor’s level), among others.

‘For Me, HSE Is One Big Family’
Parsa Farid Almasizadeh is the winner of the HSE Outstanding Alumni Award in the nomination ‘For Special Achievements in Career and Public Life among International Alumni of HSE University’. He was born and raised in Tehran and received his higher education in Russia. After completing his master’s degree at MIEM, he stayed on to work at HSE. Persian as a Professional Language: HSE Student Wins First Prize at the 18th Russian Olympiad
Darya Iskusnykh, a third-year student at the Institute for Oriental and Classical Studies of the HSE Faculty of Humanities, won first place in the Grammar and Composition category at the 18th Russian Olympiad of Persian Language and Literature. The finals of the intellectual competition took place in Moscow at the Institute of Asian and African Studies (IAAS) of Lomonosov Moscow State University with the support of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Language Mapping in the Operating Room: HSE Neurolinguists Assist Surgeons in Complex Brain Surgery
Researchers from the HSE Center for Language and Brain took part in brain surgery on a patient who had been seriously wounded in the SMO. A shell fragment approximately five centimetres long entered through the eye socket, penetrated the cranial cavity, and became lodged in the brain, piercing the temporal lobe responsible for language. Surgeons at the Burdenko Main Military Clinical Hospital removed the foreign object while the patient remained conscious. During the operation, neurolinguists conducted language tests to ensure that language function was preserved.

HSE Scholars Win Young Russian Mathematics Contest
Associate Professor Yulia Zaitseva of the Faculty of Computer Science’s Big Data and Information Retrieval School and Research Assistant Ekaterina Nistyuk of the Laboratory on Algebraic Transformation Groups have been named among the winners of the Young Russian Mathematics research grant competition. Also among the awardees is Vladislav Pokidkin, a PhD student at the Faculty of Mathematics.

From Atoms to Regulatory Systems: Highlights from Project Defences of Scientific Initiative Competition
HSE University has hosted the final defences of student projects submitted to the Scientific Initiative Competition organised by the Centre for Student Academic Development. Over the course of the year, participants worked on research projects spanning all stages of the research process, from defining a scientific problem to analysing results, and public defence marked the final stage of the competition.
