From November 10 to 14, the HSE Laboratory for Comparative Social Research’s (LCSR NRU HSE) 4th International Annual Research Conference ‘Cultural and Economic changes under cross-national perspective’ will take place in St. Petersburg. The programme includes dozens of themed sessions on current social, political and economic problems, and lectures by the world’s leading sociologists.
Foresight, a system of future studies in science and technology, is being institutionalized, brings together different levels of ‘scanning’ the future, and is branching out into new sectors. These trends were among those experts identified at the 4th annual international academic conference ‘Foresight and STI Policy’, organized by the HSE Institute for Statistical Studies and Economics of Knowledge (ISSEK), which opened on November 6.

On September 20, the three-day international conference ‘Modern Econometric Tools and Applications’ came to an end at HSE’s Nizhny Novgorod campus. The conference was organized by the Higher School of Economics and the New Economic School (NES). Academics from Canada, France, Great Britain, and other countries discussed cutting-edge research in the field of theoretical and applied econometrics, in particular stochastic economic processes.
This year at the annual UN Internet Governance Forum, IGF in Istanbul, besides the HSE professors and usual dignitaries, Alexandra Permyakova, a Master’s student on the Electronic Business programme at the Faculty of Business Informatics got the chance to go along and take part in the Forum. From August 1-5, the Academy of Management held its 74th Annual Meeting in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (USA). The Annual Meeting is the premier conference for more than 10,000 academics, and professionals in the scholarly management and organization field. This year it was attended by a delegation of eight representatives from the Higher School of Economics.
