Oksana Zaporozhets gave a talk in an international school in Perm University

On April 16-20 in Perm State University an international school "The City in the Spotlight. Methodological and Epistemological Challenges for Studying Urban Governance" was held. The school was organised by The Centre for Comparative History and Political Studies (Perm) and Leibniz-Institut für Länderkunde (Leipzig).

Leading research fellow of IGITI Oksana Zaporozhets took part in the conference "Materie, Materialien, Methoden", organised by the assosiation "NeueKulturgeographie". The conference held on January 26 at Albert Ludwigs University of Freiburg.

Leading research fellow of IGITI Oksana Zaporozhets took part in 2017 annual conference of the International Sociological Association Research Committee 21 on Urban and Regional Development, held on September 11-13 in the University of Leeds.

IGITI's Members at the ASEEES Conference

On November 17-20, 2016, Irina Savelieva, Alexander Dmitriev, Boris Stepanov, and Oksana Zaporozhets took part in the 2016 ASEEES Conference held in Washington D. C. On November 17, they organized and participated in the roundtable "Internationalization of Social Science and Humanities in the History of Russian Science." Additionally, Oksana Zaporozhets was a speaker at the roundtable "Digital Landskapes of Russian Cities: E-governance, Mobility, Activism."

Oksana Zaporozhets at the Conference "Life and Death in Russia"

Oksana Zaporozhets, leading research fellow of IGITI, participated in the conference "Life and Death in Russia" organized by Aleksanteri Insitute of the University of Helsinki. On October 26, she was a speaker in the section "Young People's Mundane (Every Day) Mobilizations, Solidarities, and Expressions in Public Space in Russia." 

Andrey Poletayev Memorial Readings

On September 9, 2016, VI Poletayev Memorial Readings entitled "Natual Sciences and Humanities: New Interaction (Dis)Order" were held at the Higher School of Economics. Among the participants were two guest speakers: Karl Hall from Central European University (Budapest) and Kornelius Borck from Lübeck University (Lübeck).

A new issue of Laboratorium journal guest-edited by Natalia Samutina and Oksana Zaporozhets

A new issue of the Laboratorium journal (Russian review of social research) guest-edited by Natalia Samutina and Oksana Zaporozhets came out of print. This issue of Laboratorium features a special section dedicated to street art or, more broadly, to vernacular images in the contemporary urban environment. The article by Natalia Samutina and Oksana Zaporozhets “Berlin, the City of Saturated Walls” and reviews of the Center junior research fellows Alisa Maximova and Alexandra Kolesnik are published in this issue. On March 3-5, Natalia Samutina and Oksana Zaporozhets participated in the workshop "Current Research on Post-Socialist Cities in East Central Europe: Transformations of Public Urban Spaces after 1989 – Agents, Practices and Strategies" at The Herder Institute for Historical Research on East Central Europe, Marburd.
