Valeria Kasamara

Valeria Kasamara supervises HSE activities related to:

  • Academic and extracurricular work with students;
  • Scholarship allocation and scholarship programmes;
  • Relations with student-run organizations and the student ombudsman;
  • Alumni relations;
  • Expert analysis for the legislative (representative) branch of government and Moscow local authorities;
  • Implementation of applied and basic policy research;
  • Fulfilment of HSE University’s social mission.

Performs the following duties:

  • Coordinates the Student Research Paper Competition;
  • Coordinates the operations of student associations, clubs and assemblies (research, creative, volunteering, cultural, entertainment, and sports);
  • Supports student government;
  • Coordinates the activities of Research and Study Laboratories, Project-based Study Laboratories and other HSE departments that involve students in research;
  • Coordinates activities aimed at creating a comfortable and friendly environment for students, including psychological counselling;
  • Coordinates activities aimed at fulfilling the HSE University’s social mission;
  • Develops HSE’s relations with alumni and their involvement in the university’s development;
  • Promotes career and professional development of HSE students and alumni;
  • Coordinates work with disabled prospective students, students and graduates of HSE;
  • Coordinates student research expeditions;
  • Coordinates the ‘I’m a Professional’ student competition;
  • Coordinates internal university research and monitoring studies aimed at providing analytical support for university development;
  • Provides expert analysis for the legislative (representative) branch of government and Moscow local authorities (including economic and social policy, public administration, and municipal administration);
  • Coordinates HSE’s responses to queries from representative state bodies and the local Moscow city administration.

Festival Without Borders: HSE’s First Inclusive Festival Takes Place in Moscow

HSE University recently held the ‘Magic World’ inclusive charity festival at Bauman Garden in Moscow. The guests included children from four orphanages sponsored by HSE, as well as anyone else who was interested. The HSE News Service provides a summary of the festival’s activities below.

The HSE Crow: Mascot Now Lives on Myasnitskaya Lamppost

A weather vane in the shape of a big-beaked bird has appeared near the HSE building on Myasnitskaya Street in Moscow. The Crow’s ceremonial unveiling coincided with the 85th birthday of HSE Academic Supervisor Evgeny Yasin, who initiated it as our university’s mascot.

HSE Gears up for Staff and Student Conference: A Look Back at Extracurricular Activities

On March 20, a conference for HSE staff and students will take place at HSE. It will consider the university’s development programme and elect the new Academic Council. The previous conference took place five years ago, in 2014, and the university has changed a lot since then. HSE News Service talked with some of the university leaders about how their own work at the University has changed over this period.

‘It Is Essential for University to Reach Common Understanding on Key Issues’

Valeria Kasamara, Senior Director for Government Relations, has been appointed new Vice Rector for Student and Alumni Relations, taking over the position from Igor Chirikov*. She spoke to the HSE News Service about what is special about the contemporary students, and about her plans for the new position.

‘HSE Offers Solutions Aimed at the Future…’

On November 27, the HSE Academic Council held an awards ceremony dedicated to the university’s 25th anniversary. The meeting saw the participation of representatives of the Russian President, members of government, and members of the Russian Federal Assembly. Governmental awards were given to a number of HSE employees for their tremendous accomplishments.

HSE Staff Receive Commendations from President Putin

Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree for the commendation of prominent public and political figures. Andrey Zhulin, Vice Rector at HSE Perm, Galina Volodina, Director of HSE Perm, and Valeria Kasamara, HSE’s Senior Director for Government Relations, are among the figures mentioned in the decree.

Winter School of the Faculty of Social Sciences

On January 31st – February 3rd 2016, the Winter School of the Faculty of Social Sciences was held at the ‘Voronovo’ Learning Centre, HSE. During the event, potential master’s students took part in master classes, business cases and meetings with students and graduates of the faculty’s educational programmes.

HSE Recognizes Staff Achievements

At a meeting of the HSE Academic Сouncil on October 31, five members of the University staff were given awards recognizing their achievements at HSE.

Total Dictation 2014 at the HSE

On April 12, 2014, Total Dictation took place at the HSE – an all-Russian event to check literacy. Those interested in checking their level of Russian grammar skills participated in 350 cities spread over 45 countries. HSE campuses were among some of the venues used for this dictation.

The HSE’s Birthday is Coming

On December 17, 2013, the HSE will celebrate its 21st birthday and the 10th anniversary of the HSE Professors’ Wednesday concert project at the Russian Academic Youth Theater (RAMT).

HSE is hosting the Science Cinema Festival ‘360°’

The third Science Cinema Festival ‘360°’ takes place in Moscow from 10-17 October. The HSE was one of the first to be involved in this festival and its screenings.

HSE Open Lectures are Coming to Moscow’s Museums

The 'Open University' project, at the Higher School of Economics is organizing lectures in Moscow museums, following on from the series of free lectures given by HSE professors throughout the summer in Gorky Park. Lectures in museums will be held each Thursday starting from September 26.
