Research Focus

Daniela’s research in the field of urban studies focuses on models of urban planning and design, especially in the field of housing. Currently she is conducting a comparative research examining the multiple genealogies of the compact mixed-use ‘European’ city model in Germany, Russia, and Austria. In so doing, her work sheds light on the role of actors in planning paradigm shifts – and more broadly on the interrelationships between urban role models, the built environment, and socio-political contexts.
