Article "Horizontal job-education mismatches and earnings of university graduates in Russia" by Sergey Roshchin, Victor Rudakov et al.  was published in Journal of Education and Work.

People with higher education enjoy higher salaries and are at considerably less risk of unemployment. The World Bank estimates that an extra year of university studies in Russia yields an 8% return on investment. The quality of a university, the specific field of study, and students’ individual strategies are all key factors in ensuring success in the labour market. These topics were discussed by Viktor Rudakov, Senior Research Fellow and Deputy Head of the International Laboratory for Institutional Analysis of Economic Reforms, Assistant Professor of the Faculty of Economic Sciences, HSE University, in an open lecture on ‘How and Where to Study to Become Successful in the Labour Market’.

At the inaugural seminar of the 2020/2021 academic year held at the HSE Institute of Education, Sergey Roshchin, HSE Vice Rector and Head of the Laboratory for Labour Market Studies, and Senior Research Fellow Victor Rudakov presented a report entitled ‘University Graduates in the Russian Labour Market’.

Victor Rudakov, Research Fellow at CInSt, and Stanislav Avdeev, Research Assistant at CInSt, are presenting their papers online at the 32nd Annual Conference of the Society for the Advancement of Socio-Economics on July 19th.

Sergey Roshchin, Ksenia Rozhkova, Victor Rudakov, and Elena Kobzar co-authored three chapters in the book "Trends and Issues in Doctoral Education: A Global Perspective".

The book "Trends and Issues in Doctoral Education: A Global Perspective" analyses the current realities of doctoral education with the help of case studies based on 14 countries and one continent. It includes an overview of the state of the literature on doctoral education as well as an analysis of doctoral education from a historical perspective with a detailed comparative discussion.

Stanislav Avdeev, Research Assistant at CInSt, has received an award in the best master's thesis competition in economics held by the European University at Saint Petersburg. The topic of the paper is "Zero Returns to Higher Education: Evidence from a Natural Experiment". Victor Rudakov, Research Fellow at CInSt, Senior Research Fellow at LLMS, is a supervisor of Stanislav's thesis.

More than 160 proposal were submitted to the conference and only 64 papers were accepted among which there are 3 presentations by CInSt researchers.

We invite everyone to join the sessions which are run by CInSt researchers and listen to the CInSt presentations.

We can hardly believe it, but the 2019 session of RSSIA has already come to an end! We received more than 100 applications, but only 24 of the strongest research proposals were accepted. Participants came from a wide range of countries: China, Belgium, Germany, India, Iran, Italy, Philippines, and Russia.
