Research Interests
Empirical studies of the factors and main features of spatial development of Russia, including the
formation of specializations of territories, industrial clusters, characteristics of the population,
its ethnic and demographic composition, and the accumulation of human capital. The role of urban
agglomerations (metropolitan areas) and the assessment of agglomeration effects. Processes of adjusting
the functional and social structures of the city. Analysis of the location patterns of residents and
enterprises in the city, including historical statistical studies, in particular on
St. Petersburg-Petrograd-Leningrad-St. Petersburg in the XIX - XXI centuries. Analysis and development
of methods for territorial strategic planning.
