How and where to challenge sanctions?
On April 7, Round Table on the topic “Protection of the rights and legitimate interests of sanctioned Russian individuals in international courts” was held at the Faculty of Law of the Higher School of Economics. The event was organized by the Faculty of Law of the Higher School of Economics.
Book 'Sovereign Immunity Under Pressure', coedited by Vladislav Starzhenetsky and Vera Rusinova, has been published by 'Springer'
A monograph ‘Sovereign Immunity Under Pressure. Norms, Values and Interests’ has been published by 'Springer' on January, 21 . Two professors of the HSE Faculty of Law – Vladislav Starzhenetsky and Vera Rusinova– co-edited the book together with Professors Regis Bismuth (SciencePo) and Geir Ulfstein (PluriCourts, University of Copenhagen). The book is written by a unique team of authors representing all main legal systems of the world.

Two Master’s Programmes at HSE University in Moscow Receive ZEvA International Accreditation
The Central Evaluation and Accreditation Agency (ZEvA) has recognized the Master’s programme'Private International Law' and the Master's Programme inInternational Trade, Finance, and Economic Integration Law as meeting international quality standards of education. Both programmes are accredited for six years without additional conditions.
‘The Professors Are Not Strictly Academic—They Are Also Practicing Professionals’
For students interested in pursuing careers in international law or economic integration, HSE University’s Faculty of Law offers the Master’s Programme ‘Law of International Trade, Finance and Economic Integration’. Previously taught in both Russian and English, the programme is now taught in English only. Among the Best: Results of the Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition
From March 31st to April 6th, 2019, the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition finals took place in Washington, DC. 124 teams from 90 countries took part in the event. The memorandums by the HSE Faculty of Law team were acknowledged to be among the best of the competition.

Italian Human Rights Law Expert Begins Post-Doc at HSE Center of Public Comparative Law
After completing a Master’s in International Public Law in 2007, Maria Sole Continiello, a native of Rome, Italy, spent several years working as an international lawyer before returning to academia. While pursusing a Ph.D. in Politics, Human Rights and Sustainability at the Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna in Pisa, her research focused on the inter-applicability of human rights law and international humanitarian law during military occupation. This work afforded her the opportunity to move around Europe, including to the Irish Center For Human Rights in Galway, Ireland, and the Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Public Law in Heidelberg, Germany.
Centre of Comparative Law Provides a Home for Italian Post-Doctoral Research Fellow
Maria Sole Continiello Neri, a native of Rome, Italy, recently joined the Centre of Comparative Law at HSE as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow. While at HSE, she will study Russian immigration law and practice against the backdrop of the European Court of Human Rights. She also plans to study law and ethics of the use of Lethal Autonomous Weapons (LAWs) during armed conflict.
