How Academic Dishonesty Seeps into the Workplace
How does academic dishonesty of students correlate with honesty in further work? A group of scientists, including Evgenia Shmeleva, Research Fellow at the HSE Institute of Education, conducted research answering this question. During an open online seminar of a research group dedicated to ‘Academic Ethics in the Educational Context,’ Evgenia Shmeleva presented ‘Does Academic Dishonesty Seep into the Workplace? Evidence from a Longitudinal Study,’ which was prepared jointly with Igor Chirikov (University of California at Berkeley-HSE University) and Prashant Loyalka (Stanford University-HSE University)
A Lack of Transparency: Why Academic Fraud Is Becoming More of Problem
Students cheat and plagiarize more if they believe most of their classmates to do just all the same. A recent study by Evgeniia Shmeleva and Tatiana Semenova, experts at the IOE Center for Sociology of Higher Education, looks at how factors of learning environment, and specifically the way students perceive the stance towards dishonest practices that their peers espouse, act as modulators of academic dishonesty.
A Lack of Transparency
Why Academic Fraud is Becoming More of Problem
Understanding Academic Dishonesty at Russian Universities
One common problem across educational systems worldwide is persistently high rates of cheating, plagiarism and other manifestations of dishonest behavior in the academic realm. A recent study by IOE researchers Natalia Maloshonok and Evgeniia Shmeleva seeks to gain new and more conclusive insights into what essentially propels Russian students to engage in unethical academic practices during their university track.
Are Russian Students Becoming More Dishonest During College?
One of the biggest challenges for the Russian higher education system is to combat academic dishonesty among students. Why do the Russian students tend to become more dishonest during college? What is wrong with Russian universities and how to solve the problem of academic dishonesty.
